Design Guidelines

In 1999, the Downtown Lakeville Business Association and the city of Lakeville commissioned a study to determine a vision for future growth and redevelopment of the historic downtown area. The study examined successful downtown areas in other suburbs, and with the input of business owners, community residents, and city leaders, a vision for the preservation and improvement of the downtown area was developed. Since then, several of the buildings downtown have been renovated, including the buildings housing the Smith Dental Clinic and the Prickly Pear Gallery and Gifts, pictured above, in accordance with the design principles set forth in the study.

Our web site contains large excerpts from the study (see links at left), but does not contain the document in its entirity. A complete copy of the design guidelines is available from the DLBA for $25.00. For more information, please email Judy Tschumper, DLBA Executive Director, or call 952-985-0517.

The Downtown Lakeville Business Association special service district is a non-profit organization supporting the preservation and redevelopment of historic downtown Lakeville. Questions? Comments? Please email Judy Tschumper, DLBA Executive Director.
