Smith Dental Clinic (Lenihan Building)

Smith Dental Clinic completed a total renovation of the historic Lenihan Building in 2001, combining the interior space with the adjacent building to provide a more usable configuration. The completed building is shown above. The Lenihan Building is the two-story portion to the left. The dental office occupies the left and center buildings, and 20779 Holyoke, which was renovated separately, is in the space to the right.

The same area, as it appeared before the renovations, is shown above. The facades were restored and updated in accordance with the downtown architectural guidelines.

The patient exam and treatment areas were totally redesigned, and incorporate the latest technology. Pass-through cupboards in the walls between patient areas allow for efficient use of equipment. The clinic has an on-site laboratory, a CERAC machine (to create crowns without the need for a second visit), and intraoral cameras, which allow the patient to see what the dentist sees.
