  • Village Creek (207th Street) Bridge

The opening of the 207th Street Bridge was a special event for the residents of Lakeville, incuding Herb Wensmann of Wensmann Homes. The new bridge connects his latest neighborhood known as Village Creek with historic downtown Lakeville and all its charm and welcoming amenities.

Because Herb has a history of growing with Lakeville, he has a first-hand knowledge of the special opportunities available to new members of the community.

Herb arrived in Lakeville in 1945 with hopes of finding a job in the village. His first job was with the creamery once located near downtown Lakeville. A few years later, he met and married his wife Elaine, and after serving in the Korean War, he built a house on Holiday Avenue. He co-owned a lumber company, which led into construction, and in 1968, Herb and Elaine started Wensmann Homes. Since then, Wensmann Homes has built thousands of award-winning homes throughout Lakeville and the surrounding communities.

Herb takes pride in how Lakeville has mananged to preserve the historic charm of its downtown and promote revitalization with projects like the new Arts Center and a variety of events such as the Farmers' Market, Wednesdays on Main outdoor concerts, and the Lakeville Art Fair.

Now that the bridge is complete, a new neighborhood is able to discover historic downtown Lakeville and take advantage of the unique shopping, businesses, cultural events, and community gatherings. And, residents have a beautiful, decorative bridge that reflects the charm and character of the neighborhood that surrounds it - a bridge that promotes a strong sense of community by connecting the past and present.

The Wensmann Family, neighbors, and city officials gathered for the ribbon cutting ceremony and official opening of the bridge.
